Ingredients
3 pounds Ground Beef (grass-fed is best, but not necessary)
1 Onion (I prefer Vidalias, but any large onion will work) - chopped
3 cloves Garlic - minced
2 cans Whole Peeled Tomatoes (I prefer organic) - 28-32 ounce cans
2 cans Tomato Sauce (I prefer organic) - 15 ounce cans
2 cans Tomato Paste (I prefer organic) - 6 ounce cans
2 tablespoons Oregano
2 tablespoons Basil
1 teaspoon Thyme
1/2 teaspoon Salt and Pepper (to taste)
2 tablespoons Butter
1 tablespoon Sugar (to taste, i err on the side of a bit more) – Can substitute Stevia or Agave
Preparation
Brown Ground Beef
Chop Onion and Garlic
Sautee Onion and Garlic with butter
In a large cooking pot combine all tomatoes and spices.
Drain Ground Beef and add to tomato mixture.
Add Onion and Garlic to Tomato Mixture
Cook on low heat for 2-3 hours (a little longer is better). Stir every 15ish minutes so that the bottom doesn’t burn.
This can be made ahead and frozen. I freeze individual portions in a Ziplock bag (one large laden full for each portion).
