There are many ways to cook corn on the cob. In your microwave, air fryer, on a grill, in an instant pot, you name it! The best method to get the most flavorful corn on the cob is on a smoker. Smoking food is a low and slow cooking process that adds flavor to food with fire and different wood chips. Here’s a fun little fact about myself! I love to smoke food in the Summertime. Grilling is fun too, but smoking gives food so much more flavor and there are so many different foods I want to try smoking. Like cheese for instance. If you love smoking food as much as I do you should try these recipes: Smoked Almonds, Smoked Asparagus, Smoked Salmon, or Smoked Bacon wrapped shrimp. Corn is my favorite vegetable to eat during the Summer and if you’ve never tried smoked corn before you should try it! The smoked corn on the cob only takes an hour at 225 and you can do pretty much whatever you like to the corn. I just brushed the corn with olive oil and added salt and pepper. Then garnished the smoked corn with some parsley. Delicious and a perfect side dish for your burgers or steak.
Tips for Smoked Corn on the Cob:
Best wood chips for smoking corn on the cob: apple, peach, cherry, hickory, maple, and mesquite. You can cook the corn with the husks on or remove them. I think this is just a personal preference. Add smoked corn on the cob to some corn chowder, pasta salads, or just eat it as is with some extra butter! I love using spray butter on my corn on the cob.
Equipment Needed:
Smoker: I have had my Traeger smoker for a very long time and I would recommend that brand to anyone wanting to learn how to smoke food. There are some very reasonably priced smokers out there for under $100. Traeger Wood Chips: It is my understanding that you can only buy Traeger wood chips where they sell Traeger Grills/Smokers at. The only place I can get their wood chips in town is at my local Ace Hardware store. If you do not want to purchase specific branded woodchips then I’d opt for a different brand of smoker other than Traeger.
