Asian Pulled

Pork

Can I tell you now that the original reason that I wanted a slow cooker all those years ago was for making pulled pork in. My mum had this magazine clipping for Asian Pulled Pork and had me drooling over it. Up until that point I had never heard of pulled pork or Asian pulled pork. About 18 months later I was gifted my first ever slow cooker and the first thing I made in it was Asian Pulled Pork. I made it again and again. I then made it some more. Eventually, it was perfect and it has remained in my handwritten recipe book ever since. Back then I hated BBQ sauce, so it was made with just delicious pulled pork and no sauce. It tasted fantastic and as it was never dry, it hit the spot. But in recent months after been introduced to Bullseye Barbecue sauces, I have changed my Asian Pulled Pork Recipe, and this is it!

Asian Glazed Pulled Pork

To make my Asian Pulled Pork it starts off by making the Asian glaze that the pork shoulder will be cooked in. This only takes me a couple of minutes to do and my 2 little helpers will always be around to join in the fun. I recommend that you add a sticky layer of extra virgin olive oil between the pork shoulder and the Asian glaze. This will help the Asian seasonings stick to the pork and gives a much better end result. You can also swap extra virgin olive oil for an alternative sticky glaze such as soy sauce or honey.

Asian Pulled Pork

In Slow Cooker?

My Asian Pulled Pork in the slow cooker is a delicious dump and go recipe. I add the seasonings directly into my slow cooker to save on washing up. Then I add in the pork shoulder (aka Boston Butt), give it a rub with some extra virgin olive oil and then rub the marinade into the pork shoulder. It then follows the set and forget dump meal process. Where you return to the slow cooker several hours later to perfectly cooked Asian Pulled Pork. All you need to do after cooking is shred the pulled pork and load it with barbecue sauce if that is your thing. But I also love it plain and without the sauce as its just as delicious.

Dry Rub Ingredients

I love my kitchen cupboard as it is loaded with herbs and spices and it makes it so much easier when making Asian Pulled Pork as I don’t need to buy anything in. I use the following mix of dry rub ingredients and just throw them into the slow cooker:
