Ninja Foodi Pot Roast
Today is a good day, because today I get the opportunity to share with you my love for pot roast and how to cook a Ninja Foodi Pot Roast! I was late trying pot roast. While most people binge on them through childhood this wasn’t the case for me. It wasn’t until the year 2012 and while on holiday at Disney World that I got to have my first ever pot roast. I had always seen the pot roasts being served in the movies or in American TV shows and wanted to try one and see what all the fuss was about. We sat down to lunch at 50’s Prime Time Diner inside of Disney World to a delicious pot roast. We had it with American milkshakes and a yummy dessert. I wanted to create the amazing combination of chuck roast, carrots, potatoes, and gravy at home. But there was an issue. Chuck roast is not known in Europe and no matter what butcher I asked they told me they didn’t sell it. I would instead make one with topside instead, but I wanted a real one with plenty of the beef falling apart as you ate it. Fast forward 7 years and an American was kind enough to tell me that chuck roast is the same as what Brits and Europeans call braising steak. All I had to do was go to the butchers and ask for a braising steak roast and I was all set. What followed was an obsession of bulk ordering braising steak and enjoying it in my different gadgets. I am probably like someone after a diet. Where they have deprived themselves for too long, then binge on the food afterwards. Naturally, after cooking pot roast in the instant pot and the air fryer, with my new Ninja Foodi it was going to happen!
Can You Cook A Roast In Ninja Foodi?
Yes you can. But even better you can choose how you are going to cook your Ninja Foodi Pot Roast. Is it going to be made using the air fryer, the pressure cooker, or a bit of both? You see that is what I love most about the Ninja Foodi. You get to choose if dinner is going to be pressure cooker or air fryer, or if you are going to use both.
What Is A Pot Roast?
If you are one of our Brit or Aussie readers, you are probably wondering what is a pot roast? I am here getting all excited over it, but you might never have heard of it. Well a pot roast is an American take on a roast beef dinner. It is delicious and comforting like your roast dinners but is easier to assemble. Roast beef is served with carrots and potatoes and almost always served with a yummy gravy. It is also referred to as a chuck roast because it is what American’s call chuck that is used for the meat. Though you can use braising, topside or silverside in its place.
Chuck Roast In Ninja Foodi
When I am making a pot roast, I prefer to use the chuck roast in the Ninja Foodi. It always feels more traditional and I love the way the beef shreds when you cook your chuck roast in the Ninja Foodi. You can use any size of chuck roast in the Ninja Foodi but do note that it has a habit of shrinking. If you go too small you won’t have enough meat to feed your family.
How To Make A Pot Roast In Ninja Foodi?
The quick version of cooking beef pot roast in Ninja Foodi goes as follows:
Sauté onion and leek in the cooking pot.Brown your chuck roast.Add in stock + pressure cook.Air fry the carrots and potatoes with the chuck.Serve with pot roast gravy.
There is a little more to it than that, but those are the simple basics!
Frozen Pot Roast In Ninja Foodi
When I cooked this Ninja Foodi pot roast I used a thawed chuck roast. But nothing stops you from going with frozen and just throwing it into the Ninja Foodi without thawing it first. If this is what you want to do I recommend you follow our instant pot frozen pot roast recipe instead.
Ninja Foodi Pot Roast Cook Time
The Ninja Foodi pot roast cook time is JUST 40 minutes. But note, that I like my pot roast so that I can slice the meat. If you would like the pot roast to fully shred, I recommend a cook time of 60 minutes.
