Ingredients

1 cup split mung

3 cup water

1 tomatoe chopped in processor

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1/4 teaspoon chili powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cumin seed

1/2 teaspoon mustard seed

6 cloves garlic

1 dried red chili

7 curry leaves or bay

1/2 juice of lemon

Preparation

Heat oil and add cumin seed, mustard seed, garlic, dried red chili and curry leaves. Saute until garlic turns light brown.

Add turmeric, salt, chili powder, and tomatoe. cook down for several minutes.

Add dal and water. Cook and mash until desired tenderness

Add cilantro and lemon juice to finish
