Ingredients
4 cups macaroni, uncooked
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
5 cups milk
4 cups Cheddar cheese, grated
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 tablespoon dry sherry
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons onion, minced
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350*
Cook pasta just short of al dente, Drain and rinse to stop cooking.
I use the same pot for the sauce. Melt butter. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Gradually whisk in milk. Cook stirring constantly until mixture begins to boil and sauce thickens
Stir in cheese and the other seasonings. I often use dehydrated minced onion If using fresh, I soften in a bet of oil first.
Add the pasta to the sauce, and transfer to a 3-quart casserole. I use a 9x13" baking dish, no prep needed.
Top with crumbs, if you like, and bake at 350* for 30 minutes or until bubbly. We like some brown edges as well!
