Are you looking for a low sodium taco seasoning recipe that is similar to those store bought taco seasoning packets? Look no longer  because you have found the only recipe for taco seasoning you need! Happy belated Taco Tuesday! I thought I’d finally share how I make my beef tacos. For the longest time, I have been using store bought seasoning packets.  I remember growing up as a kid and tacos were made in the house, that is what my mom or dad always used. EASY right? My favorite taco seasoning packet is Mrs. Dash because it is low in sodium. I thought it was time that I started making my own taco seasoning without all the extra added salt. If you use a packet of taco seasoning I won’t tell anyone. 🙂 All you need to make taco seasoning is 4 basic spices. I always keep chili powder, cumin, onion powder, and garlic powder on hand. These are the same spices that are also found in chili. When you are ready to add your low sodium taco seasoning to the skillet make sure all the fat is drained first. Add in 7 teaspoons (that is equivalent to 1.5 oz packet of taco seasoning a long with ¾ cup of water. Let the taco seasoning and water simmer with the beef for 3 minutes on medium low until the beef mixture has thickened. Store all the leftovers in a jar with a lid or an air tight container.

When the ground beef is done cooking in a skillet. Drain all the fat and add in 7 teaspoons of Taco Seasoning plus ¾ cup of water. Let simmer until the sauce has evaporated.
