Homemade

McDonalds Strawberry Milkshake

Welcome to my homemade McDonalds Strawberry Milkshake recipe. This copycat McDonalds recipe has just been updated with extra info, more photos and some more of your top questions answered. I am a strawberry milkshake addict through and through. I have loved them for as long as I can remember. I used to have them at cafés or beach bars, and they were part of growing up. I also lived in a small seaside town that had a McDonalds right in the centre. It was in a perfect position for when you walked home from your Saturday job for a quick burger and I was always paying that little bit extra for you to have a milkshake with it. The usual price was £2.88 but with a milkshake it came to £3.10. This made the perfect price when you were earning £2.00 an hour and if I wanted to, over the week I could have several if I wanted to. But what always drew me in was the McDonalds thick milkshakes. They were perfectly chilled, and you could have vanilla, chocolate, banana or strawberry. Though, I never knew who bought the vanilla ones as they were boring. It was also before the super sizes that you now get all the time, so you never had obese people eating there. I would always choose between strawberry and banana thick milkshakes and absolutely loved them. If you have not tried it yet, we also have a McDonalds thick banana milkshake recipe, that is just as good! Even when I met Dominic, in the summer when we were out in the car, we would nip into a McDonalds drive thru for a milkshake. His favourite was the manly chocolate variety and we would drink them so quick we would have brain freeze. Though, when we moved to Portugal the worst thing happened. Apparently over here they have a different type of milk so France, Spain & Portugal don’t sell the same McDonalds milkshakes. How sad is that? So, we always seem to have a lack of milkshakes with very few cafes offering them. A lot of them will offer smoothies but not thick milkshakes. Therefore, we make our own. You can use your own homemade ice cream with an ice cream maker, or use any shop bought strawberry ice cream.
