Ingredients

1 cup Crisco

3/4 cup Molasses

1/4 cup Brown Sugar

1 cup Sugar

1/3 cup Hot Water

1 teaspoon Baking Soda

3/4 teaspoon Salt

1 teaspoon Cinnamon

2 teaspoons Ginger

3 3/4 cups Flour

2 tablespoons Coarse Sugar

Preparation

Combine first four ingredients (crisco, molasses, brown sugar, sugar)

Mix baking soda into hot water, then add to first three ingredients

Sift flour into a bowl, then add salt, cinnamon, and ginger. Then mix all ingredients.

Roll out dough with 1/4 cup flour on hand. Dough is very sticky and delicate. Cut into shapes.

Place top in coarse sugar (or don’t if you want plain cookies)

Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes (typically 25 degrees less in convection)
