Ingredients

1 bottle dry red wine 

1 cup Madeira 

1 tablespoon ground cardamom 

1 cinnamon stick 

Zest of 1/2 lemon 

1/4 cup firmly packed light-brown sugar 

1/4 cup whole blanched almonds 

1/2 cup raisins 

Preparation

Combine red wine and Madeira in a medium saucepan. Add cardamom and cinnamon; bring to a simmer over low heat. Stir in zest and sugar. Divide almonds and raisins among 4 cups; fill with wine, and serve.
