A BLT sandwich has bacon, lettuce, and tomato in between two slices of bread, but have you ever tried using a bagel as the bun? Bagels have become my favorite type of sandwich bun lately, and everything bagels work so well with a BLT. Of course, this is my favorite way to make a BLT sandwich and there are other super ways to make a BLT sandwich. Sometimes I’ll add avocado slices or use mayo instead of cream cheese spread. I just really like the taste of the chive and onion cream cheese on this bagel. If you’re stuck in a lunch rut and don’t know what to make try this sandwich!
Ingredients
Are you wondering why I chose an ingredient or wondering what else you can use? Check out this section here. Bacon - I’m kind of lazy when it comes to making bacon and I use my trusty microwave for cooking bacon. I will get Black Label bacon from Sam’s Club cause they are already precooked and all I have to do is microwave them. For WW, 4 slices are 3 points. Lettuce - Romaine, Iceberg, or lettuce leaves will make a great BLT sandwich. Just make sure the lettuce is nice and crisp. Tomatoes - Use fresh juicy tomatoes that you can slice and put on a sandwich like Roma, beefsteak, or on the vine tomatoes. Grape or cherry tomatoes do not work very well with a BLT sandwich because of their size. If you were making a BLT salad they would be ok. Bagels - Go to your favorite bakery to pick up the bagels or get them at the grocery store. My favorite bagel brands are Thomas or Aldi’s L’oven fresh bagels.
How to make a Bagel BLT Sandwich
Cook bacon until crispy, drain any extra fat on paper towels. Or, microwave bacon according to package directions. Toast Bagels and spread with cream cheese. Add 1 slice of lettuce and 2 slices of tomatoes to each sandwich. Arrange 3 slices of bacon evenly on top of the tomatoes and add the other bagel half on top. Enjoy!
