Air Fryer Cajun

Shrimp

Welcome to my Air Fryer cajun shrimp recipe. This is an updated version of our air fryer cajun shrimp that we originally shared back in the summer of 2017. If you have read Recipe This for a while, then you will know that my Grandad & Uncle were fishermen. This meant that growing up there was always a lot of fresh fish and seafood available. I would get really excited about eating a fresh crab direct from its shell and feeling really clever when I was little that I had managed to get every last bit of the crab meat eaten and that there had been zero waste. I would also absolutely love shrimp, or prawns as they call them in Europe. In a prawn cocktail, in a paella, fish pie or just in a classic prawn sandwich. I just had a big addiction to them and could never stop at just one portion. But ask an American about British prawns and you would probably get some comment about them being miniature. Because they are the size of about ¼ of an American shrimp. I picked up a big frozen bag of some American shrimp (no tiny prawns here) and added them to the freezer for that time when I was craving shrimp in the air fryer. Well today is the day. I have opened my bag of frozen shrimp and loaded shrimp into the air fryer. I couldn’t think of anything more tasty than cajun shrimp and this is what I am sharing with you right now!

Can You

Air Fry Frozen Shrimp?

I am sure the first thing you want to know is “can you air fry frozen shrimp?”. Especially, if you are adding a dry rub and want your shrimp to be loaded with flavour. Well frozen shrimp works perfectly in the air fryer and is so much cheaper too, when you compare it to buying fresh shrimp. I will have a big bag of frozen shrimp in the freezer and then I can grab a handful or two of frozen shrimp and then use it in whatever shrimp recipes I like.

What

Ingredients & Gadgets Go Into Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp?

There is not much to cooking air fryer cajun shrimp in the air fryer. Firstly, you need some good quality shrimp that you can cook with. Then other ingredients include a good cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice. Of course, a good quality air fryer is essential when cooking air fryer cajun shrimp. I recommend the Philips Air Fryer XL as it is perfect size for cooking shrimp and it’s amazing how much cajun shrimp you can cook at once without an overcrowding issue.

How To Air Fry Cajun

Shrimp?

Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp is EASY. In fact, it is so easy you will be wondering why you didn’t cook cajun shrimp in the air fryer years ago. To cook cajun shrimp from frozen in the air fryer you:

Load the frozen shrimp into your favourite mixing bowl.Load into it all your seasonings and mix with the frozen shrimp.Load the shrimp into the air fryer and cook on a medium heat.Squeeze lemon juice over the shrimp and add in extra cajun seasoning.Serve.

Low Carb Cajun

Shrimp

Because this cajun shrimp is low carb, it is perfect for those that follow Paleo, Keto, Whole30 and other healthy low carb diets. This cajun shrimp is delicious over an avocado salad and a favourite brunch of mine.

Air Fryer Cajun

Shrimp Time & Temp?

Because the frozen shrimp that is often used is cooked and not raw, you are often doing a reheat rather than cooking from scratch. I like this because it saves peeling the shrimp and you can just smoother your frozen shrimp in cajun seasoning and then cook in the air fryer. The cook time is JUST 6 minutes and the temperature is 180c/360f. Any more cooking time will result in overcooked shrimp that will shrimp and look like British tiny prawns.
